Features
Stand-alone system operation
Program Macro (a BASIC-like programming language) enables flexible control
GU-3000 series modules provide a runtime environment for the "Program Macro" programming language. General-purpose I/O signals can be input, and operations based on that can control the display content and ouput signals. Programs created using the Program Macro compiler, "Macro Soushi" can be loaded into the GU-3000 unit, which can then operate as a stand-alone host controller.
GPIO ports for controlling external devices such as switches or PLC.
Connect to switches or PLC I/O
General-purpose I/O ports are useful for controlling switches, sensors, sequencers (PLC), or lights, etc. PLC signal could be used to change the VFD module display. VFD module could output a signal to activate a rotating light.
Macro function, for automatically repeating a registered command sequence
Repeat until external command received
A sequence of commands, stored inside the module, can be run continuously. For example, cursor set command and character codes can be stored as Macro data. On sending the Start Macro command, the characters can be continuously displayed. Useful for start-up display, idle display, or demonstration display sequences.

All models features a bright, easy-to-see vacuum fluorescent display (VFD). Compact models 100mm or less, long message display models are available - a wide range of sizes and functions to suit various display applications.

English characters and digits, kana, and International fonts for 11 countries (mainly European fonts), as well as Chinese, Japanese and Korean 2-byte fonts are built-in as standard. Other fonts, such as Tamil, or Vietnamese, etc, may also be possible (contact us).

Font registration software “GUF39” (free)
Images such as icons, etc, and fonts etc, can be pre-stored (registered) in FROM. The image can be quickly displayed with a short command, reducing the load on the host. Font data in BMP format can be easily registered using the "GUF39" software. Up to 224 characters can be defined for original design fonts, foreign characters, or icons, etc.
Improved EMI,ESD characteristics, strong noise resistance
EMI and ESD characteristics improved over previous VFD modules. Useful for harsher noise environments or applications.
Wide operating-temperature range, -40 ~ 85℃
LCD, due to it's structure, is affected by temperature, but VFD is resistant to temperature effects, providing a clear, stable display in low or high temperatures.
Visibility and reliability below freezing is particularly valued, with various products being used in extremely cold environments nearing -40℃, for applications such as operating panels for commercial freezers.
Other features (hardware)
Power-saving function
If no data is received after a set time, VFD display power can be automatically turned off (display power auto on/off function). This can greatly reduce power consumption when display is not necessary, and also prolongs service life.
DMA Mode for high-speed animation display
High-speed animation possible by
immediately displaying received data
Using 8-bit parallel connection, received image data can be directly displayed. This enables real-time animation display synchronous with data transfer.
Packet Mode - Simultaneously control up to 16 connected units
Splitter board (sold separately)
for connecting up to 16 units
Cascaded connection, of up to 16 units, with individual control in packet mode, is also supported. Refer to specification for details.

For measuring equipment or audio level meters, etc, display of multiple parameters can be easily controlled.
Up to four "User windows" can be arbitrarily set. The underlying screen area is the (default) "Base window". Each window has it's own home position. Text display, including scrolling, operates within the window.
Detail of Built-in fonts
Built-in 14 standard font types, providing support for 11 languages.
Character codes
Normal fonts usable in the default state. Character codes 20h?7Fh are normal fonts, codes 80h - FFh depend on the "Character Code Type" setting. Using "International font setting", characters shown with pink background are replaced with the designated international font. Using "Character code type" setting, characters shown with light blue background are replaced with the designated character code type.
International font set "America" and Character Code Type "PC437 (USA : Standard Europe)" are the normal default settings.
